ANNUAL CAMP DEADLINE

A reminder to all Cadets and CFAV's that the deadline for getting your camp forms in is the 1st July 2012.
This is the date they are supposed to be at Thetford to be processed so ensure that if you want to go to camp that you have your forms in to your Detachment Commander as soon as possible.
If you haven't got a form then speak to your Detachment Commander this week so that you can take the form home and get it signed and returned with the Cheque for £70 made payable to NACF.
Remember the £70 pays for everything, travel to and from Camp, all your food and activities.
Don't miss out on the highlight of the training year and if you need to know more then either click on the email link on the right of the Blog and send me any questions you have or ask your Detachment Commander on your next parade night.

If you need a Camp form then email me and I can email you one back to print off and get filled in.

NATIONAL CITIZEN SERVICE

The National Citizen Service is the Government's flagship programme for young people in England, that aims to bring young people from very different backgrounds together to make a difference in their communities. The first pilot took place in 2011 and involved over 8,000 Year 11's.

In 2012 up to 30,000 young people will take part. Recognising the value of Cadet training, the NCS team has invited 16 and 17 year old members of the Army Cadet Force to take part in a special pilot scheme that uses Cadets’ normal activities towards many NCS objectives.

Follow the link to see how the ACF stream will work:

ANNUAL CAMP 2012

For those wondering where you will be going for Annual Camp this year here's a map for you to see how far you'll be from Norfolk.

Queen Elizabeth II Barracks,
Strensall,
YORK,
YO32 5SW

Below is a map showing the camp and where some of the main locations are:

THE MACARENA HALT

On Annual Camp 2010 at Longmoor Training Camp SMI Perkins tried to come up with new and ingenious ways to 'march' to breakfast.
CNE Squadron did the Conga to breakfast and on one morning did the 'Macarena Halt' this was then redone that day to show the OC, Major Pickering.
The 'Macarena Halt' was filmed by a couple of adults but the whole thing wasn't filmed. Now those two films have been spliced together to show it in its full glory for the first time 8-)
If you are on Annual Camp this year then we are led to believe that new 'Halts' are being planned for the March to Breakfast 8-)

CNE BLOG

Welcome to the new CNE Blog, the place to come for all news about what is happening or has happened within the Squadron.

Whether its the next CNE Training Weekend, Annual Camp, a Detachment trip or activity, the Blog will hopefully be able to keep everyone up to date on all that is going on.

The Blog will also act as the hub of CNE's online presence from Detachment Facebook Groups to keep Cadets informed about their Detachment, Facebook Pages to Advertise your Detachment to people interested in joining and we also have a Twitter feed for fast up to date information from sports events, weekends, camps and trips etc

There is a link on the right for you to subscribe to the Blog by Email or RSS feed, so instead of having to check out what's new on the Blog, an email will be sent to you every time a new post goes live or your RSS reader will let you know.

As with all things new there are bound to be teething problems or broken links, so if you discover any problems there is a link to the CNE Email address (also on the right of the Blog) so you can get in touch about anything you find that doesn't work.

The Email can also be used to send us articles or photos about your Detachment Night or event so that might put them up on the Blog for the whole Squadron to see what you've been doing. This isn't just for Adult Instructors, if you are a Cadet and want to send a picture and short article about something at your Detachment then feel free to submit something. Whether its about your first Detachment night, weekend or Camp, a trip or event you've been to anything will be considered to show all of CNE what your Detachment does in its area.

Make sure you let your parents know the Blog address so that whilst you are on Camp they'll be able to see any photos that get uploaded at the end of each day.

There is also a Calendar on the right of the Blog and as the Blog develops this should contain all the dates of forthcoming events in the County, Squadron and individual Detachments

If you find any interesting websites or articles that you think others would like to see then let us know and we'll put up a link.
